Mansplain

Mansplain refers to a situation where a man explains something to a woman in a condescending, overconfident, or oversimplified manner, often assuming she has less knowledge or understanding on the subject. The term is often used to highlight gendered behaviour that dismisses or undermines a woman’s expertise.

Example: “He tried to mansplain how to fix my car, even though I’m a mechanic.”
Means: “He condescendingly explained how to fix my car, even though I’m a mechanic and already know how.”

Example: “I don’t need you to mansplain this to me, I understand perfectly well.”
Means: “I don’t need you to condescendingly explain this to me, I already understand it.”
