Natty (adjective / noun / gym slang)
(Also heard as: Proper natty, Natty or not, Fake natty, Going natty)
Definition: Short for natural. In gym chat, it means someone who built their physique with pure graft, food, and gym sessions without touching steroids or performance-enhancing gear.
Where It Comes From: Bodybuilding circles in the 90s started calling clean lifters “natural bodybuilders” to separate them from the gear heads. Online fitness forums and Reddit chopped it down to “natty.” When gym memes, YouTube fitness channels, and TikTok blew up with endless debates about whether massive influencers were lying about their drug use, “natty” became the biggest buzzword in lifting.
How People Actually Use It: Tossed around by gym lads sizing up anyone who looks suspiciously huge. It’s what you debate when an influencer claims they built massive shoulders in six months on chicken and rice alone. If someone looks unreal and swears they don’t take anything, people will label them a “fake natty.”
